Adding a Front Camera to My 2025 CR-V with a 3D Printed Display Mount

Project

The 2025 Honda CR-V does not offer a front parking camera—something I had on my old car and liked using. Since this is a new car I didn’t want to add extra wiring, tap into fuses, or drill holes. I ended up finding a simple solution: the Type S Solar Wireless License Plate Camera from Amazon.

The display, however, came with a suction mount and exposed the charging cable which I didn’t want cluttering the dashboard. That’s when my wife had a great idea: why not mount the display to the cigarette lighter? From there, I designed and 3D printed a custom mount that snaps onto the charger and hides the cable for a cleaner look. I’ve included the CAD files in case you want to print one for yourself.

Result (Before and After)

Parts Needed

  • Type S Solar-Powered Wireless Backup Camera – $140
    • Alternatively the same camera is sold at Costco but at the time of this post is listed for $180 – link.
  • M5x15mm screw and nut
  • Adapter STL file for 3D printing (download link below).

Steps

It is surprisingly easy to install.

1. Screw on front license plate cover with the camera.

2. Unscrew the connector from the suction cup as this will be put on the 3D printed mount instead.

3. 3D print the display adapter

4. Assemble the display adapter.

The cable can be wrapped around the part so it is out of view.

And thats it!
